Early Life and Artistic AwakeningHenri Harpignies was born in France and initially pursued a career in business at the behest of his family.
However, his passion for painting eventually triumphed, leading him to enroll at the Paris studio of Jean Alexis Achère at the age of 27.
Italian Influences
In the late 1840s, Harpignies embarked on his first trip to Italy, where he was deeply influenced by the country's landscapes and art.
In the 1850s, he forged a close friendship with Camille Corot, with whom he traveled to Italy a second time.
