Marquette history professor honored with university’s highest teaching honor

MILWAUKEE — Dr. Peter Staudenmaier, associate professor of history at Marquette University, recently received the university’s highest teaching honor, the Robert and Mary Gettel Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence.
“A good professor will help you learn.
A great professor will help you excel. A one-of-a-kind professor will change your life,” a former student described Staudenmaier.
“Although his methods are decidedly old school, and his personality is low-key and self-deprecating, he has been one of the History Department’s—and the university’s—most effective teachers since he stepped on campus in 2010,” Dr.
James Marten, chair of the history department, said.
