Cho Seung-Hui, the perpetrator of the mass shooting at Virginia Tech, was born in South Korea.

In 1992, he immigrated to the United States with his family and settled in Virginia. His parents owned a dry cleaning business.
Cho attended Westfield High School in Chantilly, Virginia, and graduated in 2003.
During his time in high school, he displayed strange behavior and had a reputation as a loner. There were reports that he set fire to a dormitory and harassed multiple women. Additionally, he was taking medication for depression.
In the fall of 2006, six months before the tragic events, Cho wrote two plays as part of an assignment for an English language and literature course.
These plays exhibited a clear inclination towards violence, with characters engaging in fights, killings, and humiliation.
